We are pleased to announce the addition of two new members to the Nymbus team; Mr. François-Olivier Laplante and Mr. Rodolphe Beaulieu. François-Olivier Laplante joins the portfolio management team as a Managing Partner of Alternative Investments. Mr. Laplante will be responsible for the “Folco Long/Short Equities” as well as “Folco Real Estate High Income” strategies. Rodolphe Beaulieu will manage the Private Wealth business development operations as well as oversee bond portfolios for some of our private clients.
François-Olivier Laplante has over 15 years of capital markets experience and is specialized in real estate and other real assets equities. From 2003 to 2014, Mr. Laplante served as Vice-President, Director and Head of Liability Trading on the Institutional Equity Trading team at Desjardins Securities, part of a $260 billion financial institution. He was in charge of managing the firm’s liability book, covering telecoms, REITs, industrials, rails, energy infrastructure, independent power producers, pipelines and utilities. He facilitated equity block transactions by pricing potential trades and managing the firm's trading capital to encourage activity among Desjardins institutional clients. He previously served with National Bank Financial, where he worked as an equity proprietary trader and institutional equity liability trader from 2000 to 2003. Mr. Laplante holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Laval University where he also was a starter for the Rouge et Or basketball team.
Rodolphe Beaulieu also has over 15 years of capital markets experience and focuses on the fixed income asset class. Black belt in both Brazilian and Japanese Jiu Jitsu, Mr Beaulieu worked for over ten years as a Portfolio Manager for the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, one of the largest institutional fund managers in North America, and later for ING Canada/Intact. Having been partner of the Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu School in Montreal for many years, Rodolphe has a wide network of contacts in the field of combat sports and martial arts, and shows a thorough understanding of just how significant financial challenges can be for today's athletes. Consequently, Mr. Beaulieu specializes in managing private clients capital and has developped a niche expertise towards high performance athletes wealth management. Rodolphe holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Bishop's University (1999) and obtained his CFA designation in 2006.
We are very happy to welcome them to the team and look forward to developping the synergies that will stem from their extensive and complementary capital markets expertises.
